All the colors of the flag:
The white and azure were the colors of the Greek patriots who struck themselves for indipendence of their country. It was 1821, and the war go on until 1830. "Freedom or Death" it was their outcry of battle against Ottoman Empire. The nine sillabes of the motion in original language are represented by the horizontal stripes. The cross is that one of the orthodox religion. The white color symbolizes the purity, the azure symbolizes the liberty. It was the first king of Greece, Ottone I of Wittelsbach, to approve of the flag, in 1832.
