IOANNINA (Chief Town of the Epirus):
Chief Town of the homonym province, situated in the Epirus, on the nord-west coast of the lake. Agricolture market place with textile industries. Ioannina was conquired by Normans in 1081, became in the 1204 capital of Despotato of Epirus.
